Description
Present methods of measuring asphalt content in asphaltic plant mixes are either time consuming or costly. The differences in dielectric properties of asphalt and aggregates suggest that an in expensive instrument might be developed which could determine asphalt control by measurements of this difference.

States' Departments of Transportation (DOT) are trying to utilize the best practices of managing low-volume roads (LVRs) due to limited resources and declined transportation funding. Diverse maintenance practices and fluctuating budget allocations are noticed on LVRs which significantly impact the overall pavement performance. In this study, the optimal scheduling of maintenance strategies and effectiveness of different maintenance policies are investigated....

Description
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has been trying to identify the most effective methods for managing low-volume roads (LVRs). These roads are facing multiple challenges including: reductions in maintenance budgets, impact of industrial activities, and potentially not receiving the most cost effective treatments. Considerable savings can be secured by implementing an effective and informed management system for all LVRs engineering...

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the cost of rehabilitation techniques used on interstates, state highways, and principal arterials dating back to 2009 for use in LCCAs. The rehabilitation techniques used in this study include cold in-place recycling, hot in-place recycling, full-depth reclamation, hot-mix asphalt overlays, hot-mix asphalt mill-and-fill, and portland cement concrete pavement. Hot in-place recycling was further broken into...

This report analyzes the Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) data for Portland cement concrete pavement (PCCP) awarded in the years 2000 through 2009. Analysis of the overall performance of the projects is accomplished by reviewing the Calculated Pay Factor Composite (CPFC) and Incentive/Disincentive Payments (I/DP). Analysis of each of the test elements: thickness, compressive strength, sand equivalent, and flexural strength is also completed....
